Stories are important…They can be more important than anything. If they carry the truth.

Patrick Ness, A Monster Calls

I have always been drawn to individual stories concerning the human experience. 15 years of teaching English in secondary schools has honed a passion for seeing the world through another’s perspective as well as encouraging a fundamental appreciation and respect for others’ interpretations; working with teenagers has broadened my understanding of wider spectrums of thinking.

‘Liberate’ has connotations of the need for freedom, release and empowerment – to unburden oneself could relate to a life situation, an emotion, or perhaps a complex relationship. It is my firm belief that every person has the power within themselves to make choices and changes, take ownership of their lives, and determine the direction they wish to head. My work centres on an integrative approach, primarily drawing on Transactional Analysis. My aim is to promote personal change and growth, and provide a safe space for clients to progress at their own pace. I offer both short-term and long-term counselling to both teenagers and adults.

I hold a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and have completed additional formal training in psychotherapy. I commit to regular training and Continued Professional Development and have regular supervision to support my practice. In addition to this I hold a Masters degree in Education and have completed training in a wide range of areas. I also hold an enhanced DBS check and am an accredited member of the National Counselling Society whose ethical framework I strongly adhere to in my practice.

There are many reasons that bring someone to counselling – it may be a recent or past life event you would like to work through or perhaps you are seeking time and space to gain some perspective on a specific aspect of your life.
